Substance use disorders (SUDs) are complex medical conditions that affect millions of individuals and families. Our hospital offers a full range of treatment designed to meet patients where they are on their recovery journey. Our dedicated clinical team tailors a treatment plan to each patient’s unique needs and circumstances.

Understanding Addiction

When a person has an addiction, they use a substance despite experiencing negative consequences. Addiction can develop through the abuse of various substances, including alcohol, opioids, stimulants, cannabis, hallucinogens, and sedatives. It’s important to understand that struggling with an addiction does not indicate moral failure or lack of willpower — this is a legitimate medical condition that responds well to professional treatment.

Addiction affects brain chemistry and structure, particularly in areas related to reward, motivation, learning, judgment, and memory. This explains why patients who are experiencing these symptoms often find it extremely difficult to stop using substances without professional help.

Health Consequences
