Preferred Program for Behavioral Health

Opening Fall 2025

Everyone’s mental health journey is different. Our facility in Greenville, North Carolina, offers inpatient, intensive outpatient, and partial hospitalization programs for adults. Note that we are not able to provide services for forensic patients or for those who have complex medical conditions.

Inpatient Care

Patients who participate in our inpatient program live on-site at our safe, secure campus. We provide round-the-clock care for people who are experiencing severe, acute symptoms. Our compassionate team collaborates to help each patient regain stability and build a strong foundation for long-term healing. We offer an inpatient program for adults age 18 and older and another that is dedicated to senior adults.

Intensive Outpatient Program - Coming Soon!

Our intensive outpatient program (IOP) provides a structured environment for those who need a high level of care without staying onsite at our campus. Patients take part in programming three to four days per week for three hours each day, which gives them the flexibility to work or go to school.

Partial Hospitalization Program - Coming Soon!

The partial hospitalization program (PHP) offers a structured and intensive option for people who are seeking support for mental health challenges while still maintaining a degree of independence. It is designed for those who require more support than traditional outpatient care provides but do not need 24-hour monitoring. This comprehensive program takes place five days a week, five hours per day for two weeks.

Finding the Right Level of Care for Your Needs

Coming to us for help can feel like a big step, and you may be uncertain about what level of care is right for you. We will conduct a thorough assessment, recommend the appropriate level of care, and create an individualized care plan based on your unique needs.

During the complimentary assessment, we will discuss your current symptoms and your mental and physical health histories. Next, the admissions specialist will consult with our clinical team to determine whether ECU Health Behavioral Health Hospital is the right fit for you. We will walk you through the next steps toward entering our program and answer any of your questions. If we determine that a different provider could better meet your needs, we will gladly give you a referral.

Payment & Insurance

Prior to admission, a member of our team will collect some basic information that will allow them to work directly with your insurer. Our goal is to confirm your coverage and ensure that you can access all benefits to which you are entitled. Our team will work closely with you to make sure that you fully understand your coverage and any potential additional payment responsibilities. Our insurance confirmation and benefits verification service is provided free of charge and does not require any commitment on your part.

Starting Your Healing Journey

All our programs incorporate a variety of evidence-based therapies. Your care plan will be based on your needs and may include:

  • Cognitive behavioral therapy (CBT): A goal-oriented therapy that can help you identify and change negative thought patterns and behaviors
  • Dialectical behavior therapy (DBT): A specialized form of CBT that focuses on emotion regulation, distress tolerance, and mindfulness
  • Motivational interviewing: A collaborative process in which counselors work with you to uncover your reasons for change and guide you toward actionable steps
  • Trauma-focused care: An approach that is designed to help you process and cope with the effects of trauma

Group therapy is also an important element of programming. Group activities give you the opportunity to connect with others who are going through similar experiences, with guidance from our licensed therapists, nurses, counselors, and mental health technicians. Your individual care plan may include:

  • Process groups: Focus on interactions and support among peers through shared experiences
  • Psychoeducation groups: Designed to enhance your understanding of mental health conditions and addictions and promote self-management
  • Activity groups: Experiential activities that provide a creative outlet to help alleviate stress
