Preferred Acute Inpatient Program for Adults

Opening Fall 2025

Our inpatient program provides round-the-clock care for people who are experiencing severe, acute symptoms. This program is designed to help patients regain stability and build a strong foundation for long-term healing.

Because inpatient care addresses acute concerns, it is best suited for patients requiring short-term accommodation, usually five to seven days. The exact length of stay will vary based on each patient’s situation. At our Greenville, North Carolina, hospital, we arrange the specific housing location of our patients according to their care needs, the severity of their symptoms, and their age group.

Admissions Process

We know that seeking help for yourself or a loved one may feel overwhelming, but our experienced professionals are here to listen and guide you. When you come to us, we conduct a thorough assessment to learn about your current symptoms and your mental and physical health histories. This allows our team to recommend the right level of care and create an individualized plan based on your unique needs. This assessment can be completed in person or over the phone.

After the assessment, one of our admissions specialists will consult with our clinical team to determine whether our inpatient program or another program is the right fit for you. Upon admission, we will guide you through the next steps toward receiving care.

Admissions Criteria

The adult inpatient program at our Greenville, North Carolina, hospital offers comprehensive care for adults age 18 and older who are struggling with mental health concerns, including co-occurring substance use disorders, and those who have an intellectual or developmental disability. To be admitted, you must have a primary diagnosis of a mental health disorder, with or without a secondary diagnosis of a substance use disorder.

What To Expect During Your Stay

Once our clinical team determines that our services are the right fit for your needs, our goal is to make entry into treatment as smooth as possible. We will go over what items you are and are not permitted to bring with you. We will then welcome you onto our secure, comfortable campus, where you can make yourself at home.

During your stay, our team is available 24/7 to monitor your health and address your needs. You’ll follow a structured daily routine that balances therapy sessions, group activities, and personal time. This routine can help you establish healthy habits, develop coping strategies, and find stability.

Peer support can also play an important role in the process. In group therapy sessions, you can connect with others who understand and relate to your experiences. Some people form strong bonds with each other and even keep in touch after their time here. A community of support and understanding helps patients build a foundation for lasting healing.

We also offer electroconvulsive therapy (ECT) for patients on an as-needed basis.

After Your Stay with Us

Healing is a lifelong process, so we help you begin thinking about your future from the very start of your treatment with us. Our team will work closely with you to develop a detailed discharge plan. Typically, after a patient completes their inpatient stay, we recommend continuing care in another program, such as our intensive outpatient program. We will discuss your ongoing goals and recommend additional care if there’s a need.
